Why Are We Here?

Here we are

Away from everything we know and love

Into a new world

Some resent it, some accept it

All miss the old ways

Before we came

This time we spend here

Is not as much a punishment

As it is an opportunity

Some see that, some don’t

It’s a chance to put our life on hold

Move away from the old

Some use this chance

To mend and renew

Others abuse this chance

they aren’t few

The time here may seem tough

But look to the future

Our time here might be enough

To save us

Everything here seems to center around time

And time goes on

And that time here can’t be replaced

But while we’re here we learn new things

From new people, a new face

Almost strange how fast it becomes comfortable

In this new world

It is hard here sometimes

Sometimes hard to deal with

But why would we enter the real world

If we can’t handle this soft one

Are we ready? No one knows

All we can do is prepare for it

This is why we’re here
